The Beginning

1979 - 1988

Burbank Sportscards began in 1987 as a 1,900 sq/ft shop under Don and Marsha Osborne, where Rob Veres’ vision quickly turned a small sports card section into the store’s main focus. In 1988, Rob and his father Steve Veres officially took over, renaming the shop Burbank Sportscards and setting the stage for its future success.

Expansion and Recognition

1990 - 1991

Burbank Sportscards gained local media attention during the 1990 trading card boom, establishing itself as a go-to destination. In 1991, they launched an innovative advertising campaign at AMC theaters, further expanding their reach within the community.

Growth and Innovation

1995 - 1996

In 1995, Burbank Sportscards relocated to a larger, double-sized location to accommodate its growing success. The following year, they developed a revolutionary organizational system for their extensive inventory, laying the foundation for the digital database system that now sets them apart in the industry.

E-Commerce and Evolution

1999 - 2007

In 1999, Burbank Sportscards embraced e-commerce by selling on eBay, quickly becoming a top 10 sports card retailer on the platform. By 2007, they moved to their third and current 7,500 sq/ft location, complete with an advanced fulfillment center, positioning themselves as industry leaders

The Next Generation

2017

Ryan Veres, Rob’s son, officially joined the business as an owner in 2017, making Burbank Sportscards a three-generation family operation. Their growing presence at major events, like the National Sports Collectors Convention, continued to elevate their brand.

Modernization During a Boom

2020

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic’s sports card boom, Burbank Sportscards modernized its exterior in 2020 and enhanced its vast selection of singles and boxes, solidifying its position in a rapidly evolving market.

The Burbank Card Show

2022 - 2023

In 2022, Burbank Sportscards launched the inaugural Burbank Card Show at the Burbank Marriott Convention Center. Due to its immense popularity, the show expanded to larger venues in Ontario and Anaheim by 2023, becoming the premier sports card convention on the West Coast.

New Milestones 

2024

In 2024, Burbank Sportscards inked an exclusive deal with Fanatics, transitioning over 40 million cards to their platform and reintroducing themselves to licensed sports websites. By November, they plan to move to their largest location yet, a 14,000 sq/ft space, continuing their tradition of innovation and leadership in the industry.
